Bomar’s Future Status with Team 1998 Uncertain

Bomar Tentatively Suspended for 2009 and Fined; Future Status is Under Review

Wet Chicken Gets Cooked by PAC Executive Committee

December 30, 2008
Bombastic Team 1998 member, Stirling Bomar, has been suspended for the 2009 Phi Alpha Cup with additional disciplinary action under consideration by the Phi Alpha Executive Committee for breaking rules set out in the Tournament Charter. According to reports, Bomar scheduled a personal appearance for the traditional Phi Alpha weekend, the first weekend in May, thereby violating PAC rules. Bomar has also been fined an undisclosed amount (rumored to be an amount consistent with Fu Transport costs.)

While the Phi Alpha Cup Charter clearly states that any member missing a Phi Alpha Cup is banned indefinitely, it seems that the Phi Alpha Committee may be leaving a little light for a Bomar return in 2010, although the Committee has not released an official statement.

Bomar’s team captain, Dave Johnson, seemed disappointed with the entire ordeal.

“Here we have a situation where alot of our team is questioning who is committed to winning and who is not. For anyone who needed any more evidence than a winless Sunday singles record, here you go,” said Johnson.

Some of Bomar’s other teammates weren’t quite as harsh.

“I’ll take the one-and-a-half days we get out of Bomar over three days of anyone else, depending on who that anyone else is,” added Winston Black.

With regard to a Team 98 replacement for 2009 and possibly beyond, team members were mum.

“We’ll await the official verdict on the sanctions before we announce anything on Stirling’s replacement,” said Team 98’s Jeff Eaton. “We know that we have a (permanent) first alternate in Jeff Cohen, so we always have someone we can call up to ask for advice.”
