New Phi Alpha Cup Logo Unveiled

After much anticipation, The Phi Alpha Executive Committee unveiled the new Phi Alpha Cup logo at a ceremony at the Museum of Modern Art in Manhattan – an emblem that has been six months in the making. The Committee commissioned French-born artist Francois Dopplergrand in the Fall of 2008 to craft the new logo in time for the 2009 event. The new logo features the famous Phi Alpha Cup prominently displayed over two crossed golf clubs. The new logo also features two stars, a red one signifying Team 1997 in their official team color, and one blue, signifying Team 1998 in their official color. The logo also displays the inaugural date of the Cup which was 2005.

“This represents months of work, and I am incredibly pleased with the result,” said Dopplergrand , who considers this his most important contribution to the world of art. “Just to be asked to contribute to such a renowned event is an honor I am not worthy of. It’s a dream come true.”

Team 1997 Captain and PAC Executive Committee member Andy Sands expressed his gratitude to Dopplegrand and his appreciation for his important contribution to golfing history.

“We are extraordinarily pleased with the outcome of the new logo and what Francois has accomplished,” said Sands. “I believe that we have reached our goal of a strong brand image that golfing fans across the world will be able to identify with for many years to come.”
